“Ha ha ha ha!!!” The deep voice was heard all around the valley because of the echo created by all the natural walls in the valley. “I did it! I finally did it!” A very huge demon climbed out of a hole in the ground. It seemed that he didn’t care about being heard by all the monsters that used to roam around the Behemoth valley. In fact, he started yelling claiming he greatness of his Great Lord Mitsurugi, like if he wanted to make them all come where he was. The demon seemed to have gone crazy because of the enthusiasm. “Now come here and finish with those useless beings! Let’s give this world to its true and only worth owner!” Again, his insanely loud laugh. The demon extended his arms and stared at the sky laughing. The moment of the victory was about to come.
The demon kept laughing and laughing for a long time, probably even for six minutes, but nothing happened. Then he slowly stopped as his laugh became weaker and weaker. Finally, he stood in the same stance, but he seemed to be just stunned or crazy. “Wha… What…?” He lowered his head, something was wrong. The chaos, the screams, the growls… nothing. Where were all those beautiful sounds he wanted to hear? “Where the Hell is everyone?!” He yelled, this time really angry. What could be happening? After some seconds, his yelling was also repeated by the echo again.
“Wow, you are really noisy, aren’t you? How troublesome… try to relax a little.” The demon stood completely paralyzed when he heard that voice. It was, for some reason, familiar to him. The voice of a young man, around twenty years old. Not too deep, but not piercing either. He turned around slowly only to see a Holy Knight sitting calmly and staring at him while he licked his ice cream of chocolate and strawberry. The demon gasped: the spiked short brown hair, those scars that covered the right part of his face and his lack of his right eye… He also recognized the piercings in his mouth, without forgetting all the non-edged weapons he carried. “Yo… you!!!” The young Holy Knight smiled and waved at the demon. “Hello, Boyarg. How have you been lately?” He said with a soft tone holding a sweet and friendly smile. “You… you were dead!” The demon exclaimed pointing at him. “Yes.” Jabo nodded. “And actually, I am dead. That’s why I am in this worl…” Before he could finish the sentence, Jabo was rudely interrupted by the demon. “Shut up! You already know what I mean! I killed you… For the second time!” Annoyed by Boyarg’s attitude and manners, Jabo frowned. “Yeah, and that was pretty rough. It hurt, you know? I hoped you would at least apologize for what you did. You left me alive, so you can’t be that…” Boyarg interrupted Jabo again. “Shut up, shut up and shut up!!! I wanted to kill you, if you are alive it is because beating you up wasn’t funny. I wanted to see your corpse rotting or being eating by a bunch of hungry dogs.” Jabo sighed, he felt slightly depressed. He thought that at least the demon had tried to have mercy… it seemed that he was being too gullible.
Jabo frowned and his expression became harder. The young Holy Knight got up and pointed at the hole in front of him. “Alright, anyway this tunnel shouldn’t be here. Cover it now or I will get angry.” The demon chuckled. “What say you? Kid, why should I pay heed to you?” Jabo let out a snort as he let his arms fall. “You did it, didn’t you? Now you will be the one who will fix all that mess.” Boyarg growled. “Are you joking? I needed years to do this. I had to wait for too long waiting for the seal around this place to become weaker and find an entrance. Now all the beasts in this place will destroy the Enigma Islands and the land of the Unknowns. You are dead! You are all dead!” The demon started laughing insanely again. Jabo only looked around calmly, like if he searched for something. “Beasts huh…? And where are they, exactly?” The demon stopped laughing suddenly, Jabo’s comment had come and had kicked him in his intimate parts. The demon swore and cursed for a fairly long while. “Where are all the beasts, the monsters?!” Jabo chuckled without one little hint of grudge or malice. “Don’t worry, they won’t come. Five months ago you almost killed me when you were still working on your little project. A guy saved me. Thanks to him we got an idea of where your tunnels were. We wanted to arrest you to stop your project, but we didn’t know where the tunnels were. In fact, we don’t know yet, but at least we knew where you wanted to go and we lowered the power of the seal as bait. Some of my comrades of created a seal around this area to make sure any of those monsters will bother us. Behemoth was the one who took care of scaring them away to clean the area.”
Suddenly, Jabo and Boyarg almost fell on the floor. A very strong earthquake had suddenly made its appearance. “What… what’s going on?!” Boyarg asked being really scared. “That’s Behemoth.” Answered Jabo calmly. “Whe… where?!!!” When the demon turned around, he saw only the snout of some gigantic lizard. It was too big to see its whole body. The demon screamed, his deep voice had suddenly become piercing like a whistle and Jabo had to cover his ears. When he finally opened his, which he had closed because of the pain in his ears, Jabo held a rather worried expression. Behemoth loved him, he idolized Jabo! ‘He shouldn’t have told that he beat me up.’ He thought.
“Behemoth…” Jabo started explaining as his gigantic friend growled staring at Boyarg. “…was created by God to defeat Leviathan. Leviathan was an insanely powerful creature, Behemoth is the only thing that could match its power, without counting God Himself of course. Leviathan was hidden at the depths of the ocean and Behemoth lived in the middle of the Gobi desert, hidden under the ground. When the human technology advanced, God took them away from the Earth afraid that they could find any of the two beasts. Behemoth was taken here, he’s the nice one. Leviathan (the evil beast) is sealed in Heaven.” Jabo then approached the demon. “But its location is a secret, not even I know it.” He whispered. Anyway, he had to speak rather loudly, because Behemoth’s breathe, although the beast tried to keep it low, was very powerful.
Jabo stepped back. “And finally, when he wants, Behemoth becomes a giant rock, like a mountain. That’s why you didn’t see it before. Also, it’s a great friend of mine. God wanted to make a feast with its and Leviathan’s meat. He decided not to do so. Anyway, the Holy Knights didn’t want to take care of it, but I decided to be his responsible and since this place was called Behemoth because of the monsters that roamed around I thought that we could take him here to control the other monsters. Oh yeah, and now you are under arrest.”
The demon ran away, he couldn’t be caught. He was scared, that monster was with Jabo and Jabo would be angry with him because of what he did to him. They were going to kill him! “Too bad…” Jabo mumbled. Behemoth only needed to stretch his neck and he caught Boyarg with its mouth, as well as most of the ground around him. Behemoth smiled and swallowed his prey. “No!!!” Jabo started throwing stones at Behemoth. “Silly! Silly! Silly Behemoth! Don’t eat him!” Behemoth’s expression suddenly became sad and he seemed to be scared from Jabo and his stones, although of course they didn’t even hurt the gigantic monster. But what happened to Behemoth was that he didn’t want Jabo to be angry with it, because they were good friends. Behemoth regurgitated Boyarg, and with him, all the ground it had swallowed. The pond of saliva had the surface of a big lake, but fortunately it wasn’t too deep…
Boyarg was trembling on the floor. Jabo sighed with relief. Behemoth could use the Empire State Building as a tooth stick and it would still be too small for it. It was a miracle that Boyarg was still alive. Behemoth seemed like a defenceless puppy, with his both front legs next to it chest and his eyes round and shiny because of the tears. “Fine. Fine. My little Behemoth is a good boy.” He said softly. In few seconds, Behemoth was happy again.
Well, now everything left was the boring part. Jabo would stay next to Boyarg and the tunnel. He would watch for both. He wondered if someone would appear from inside the tunnels trying to investigate what could have happened and why that hole was there. He also had to write the report. When Behemoth was a mountain, a bunch of rock again, Jabo sat on the paralyzed body of the demon and started writing. ‘Such a shame that I skipped the studies…’ He thought as he stared at his own horrible writing, it seemed like the one of a ten years old child.
Once, Boyarg challenged Jabo to a fight, and Jabo accepted. The deal was to set him free if he won. Boyarg was over-confident of course, but when he hit Jabo in the face with all his strength, he broke at the same time all his own fingers. Jabo only shrugged and declared the fight finished, Jabo-1, Boyarg-0. Again, he stood waiting and finishing his report, waiting for the Knights in charge of closing the tunnel and wondering if someone would come out from the tunnel in their search for answers.
